While most area non-profits roll out news about their fundraising projects months in advance to gin up sponsorships and enthusiasm about ticket sales, The Salvation Army of North Texas evidently decided to try a different tactic. They waited until weeks before to provide details and links to sponsorships and tickets.
It was last November when the Army announced that its traditional fall fundraiser, “Doing The Most Good Luncheon,” would take place on Wednesday, March 9, at the Hilton Anatole with Christie Carter and Margaret Hancock co-chairing.
Now, with less than a month to go, it’s been officially revealed that Sarah Losinger and Clay Smith are serving as underwriting co-chairs and the day’s speaker will be best-selling author Stephanie Land. Her book, “Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay And A Mother’s Will To Survive” inspired the Netflix limited series.
As for the 2022 Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary’s Fashion Show And Luncheon, it was reported last June that Nikki Webb would co-chair the 2022 fundraiser with loads of clothes that have been waiting in the wings from 2021 Fashion Show Chair Kim Hext’s effort that had to be canceled due to COVID.
News just arrived that the fashion show and luncheon will indeed be taking place on Tuesday, May 3, at the Meyerson starting at 10 a.m., with the ever-popular Chic Boutique followed by the parade of fashions from the area’s finest closets, plus a seated luncheon.
Unlike years past, when the items that weren’t swooped up at the fundraiser were put on sale for two or three days, this year there will be a one-day-only Fashion Show After Sale on Thursday, May 5, at 9216 Harry Hines from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
