Just back from the Genesis Annual Luncheon at the Anatole, but more about that later. Just wanted you to know a newsie item that was wormed out of Dallas Women’s Foundation President/CEO Roslyn Dawson Thompson, as she sat next to WFAA’s Shelly Slater.
They’ve finalized the speaker for the Dallas Women’s Foundation’s 30th Annual Luncheon presented by U.S. Trust on Friday, October 30. Think Texan. Think Aggie. Think itty-bitty and gorgeous. Think master degree type. Think “desperate housewife” who really isn’t desperate at all.
Got it? Yup, the speaker will be Eva Longoria! The surprising thing about Eva is her philanthropy, books and activism have overshadowed her movie and TV career. In fact, the Hollywood Reporter named her the Philanthropist of the Year and she was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at Variety’s Power of Women Luncheon.
According to Eva, “I’m excited to join Dallas Women’s Foundation as they lead the fight for women’s issues in Dallas and in my home state of Texas. Nothing is more impactful to a community than investment in women. When you improve the lives of women that affects their families, and ultimately changes our communities. With men and women working together, we can, and we will, improve the lives of women and girls.”
Chairing this year’s luncheon will a trio of couples — Jane and Michael Hurst, Paula and Ron Parker and Stacey and John Relton.
As Michael summed it, “As a husband, father, brother and owner of a company, I know firsthand the critical role women play in our families and our society. The opportunity to chair this event, side by side with my wife and other like-minded philanthropists, is the highest honor. Together, we aim to raise awareness and funds for Dallas Women’s Foundation as it leads the way to empower women and girls in North Texas.”
Tickets are on sale now, so get ‘em while they’re hot.
