Business Council for the Arts‘ 35 Obelisk Awards Luncheon was entering into a new generation on Thursday, November 9. Beside taking place at the JW Marriott in the Dallas Arts District’s Hardwood Ballroom on the 12th floor, it was also the debut of BCA’s third executive director Stacie Adams and a slight change in the award categories.
Still, the presentation to the 2023 recipients (Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum, Genesis Inspiration Foundation, Goldmark Cultural Center, Cabaniss Management and Kessler Presents, Virgin Hotels, Raymond Rowell, Gayle Halperin, Cece Smith, Robyn Flatt and Mary Brinegar) continued to be grounded in BCA’s foundation created by its founder, the late Raymond Nasher, of encouraging the collaboration of culture and commerce to accomplish great things.
And the bravos from the filled ballroom were just as sweet as in the past, with a multitude of guests from both the arts organizations (Kim Noltemy, Ian Derrer, Erik Earl Larson, Kirk Severtson and Margo Miller) and the North Texas business community (Joel Austin, Rachael and Evan Singer, Ford Lacy, Paul von Wupperfeld, Marion Flores, Susan Hicks, Andrea Nayfa and the NorthPark crew including Nancy Nasher, David Haemisegger, Kristen Gibbins, Meredith Hays, Marc Pechersky and Shelby Foster), as well as art-loving philanthropists like Amy Meadows, Patricia Meadows, Lynn Fisher and Donna Wilhelm.
While the coverage of the annual fundraiser is being written up, check out the recipients and guests at MySweetCharity Photo Gallery.
