Leave it to the 2023 Zoo To Do to come up with live auction items that are off the beaten path. This Saturday, with temperatures getting more user-friendly, unlike the past days of cold shoulders, 2023 Zoo To Do Co-Chairs Thai-lan Tran and Steven J. Roth and Live Auction Co-Chairs Diane and Hal Brierley, Grace Cook and Mary McDermott Cook have shared the following trio of “you can’t find ’em elsewhere” live auction packages:

  • Chasing Butterflies: A Dallas Zoo Adventure in Mexico City donated by The Dallas Zoo (Value: $28,000) — Embark on an extraordinary journey with the Dallas Zoo conservation team February 5-11, 2024. During this private, international expedition, you’ll witness one of the most awe-inspiring natural spectacles on the planet – the winter sanctuary of over two billion monarch butterflies! Your party of eight will be led on a magical journey by our experienced Dallas Zoo team and a knowledgeable in-country host. Together, we will explore the rich history of Mexico City including a VIP visit to one of Mexico City’s premiere museums followed by a dinner with your fellow travelers. Soak in the cultural wonders of the remarkable mountain town of Angangueo, and venture to two of the world’s premier locations to witness the breathtaking congregations of monarch butterflies. Package includes all hotel accommodations, all meals, gratuities, and
    ground transportation.

  • All-Star Chef Private Dinner donated by Chef Dan Landsberg of Circle Ranch, Chef Janice Provost of Parigi, Chef Abraham Salum of Salum, Chef Stephen Rogers of Gemma and Sachet, Chef Gilbert Garza of Suze and Chef Matt Balke of Encina (Value: $20,000) —A private chef is one thing, but a TEAM of private chefs? That’s amazing! Here’s an opportunity to open your home (and especially your kitchen) to the culinary wizardry of top Dallas chefs as they prepare a one-of-a-kind meal for your exclusive party of 10. We’ll provide the food, wine, service, and clean up — you just provide the people and the space. Don’t miss this opportunity to savor incredible bites and bragging rights!

  • Pride and Feast at Serengeti Grill donated by The Dallas Zoo (Value: $7,000) — Treat your party of 10 to a special evening at the Dallas Zoo at the Serengeti Grill overlooking the Giants of the Savanna lion habitat. The centerpiece of the evening is the extremely exclusive opportunity to feed our lion pride – from safely atop the building, of course! During the three-hour event, guests will enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while learning about our pride from our zoological team, including a big cat training demonstration and the opportunity to feed our lions. Next, a chef-prepared dinner is sure to dazzle as guests overlook the lion habitat.

Even if you’re on a photo safari and can’t attend the Dallas Zoo fundraiser to bid on one of the eight live auction packages, you can always bid on the Big Board starting Saturday at noon or on Silent Auction items right now online here.
