According to The Senior Source Honorary Lifetime Board Member/Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket Morning Muser Broadcaster George Dunham,
“Caring for an aging loved one isn’t easy. It’s overwhelming, exhausting, and isolating. It’s also one of the most meaningful and rewarding endeavors you can take on — a true labor of love. Many of us know someone who has gone above and beyond caring for an aging parent, spouse, or loved one. The Senior Source wants to recognize them for their selflessness, and you can help when you nominate them for the Laura Grace Caregiver Award. Submissions are accepted on The Senior Source website through Friday, July 29.
“I remember how my eyes were opened to the world of elderly care and just how sad it can be after caring for my aging parents. My siblings and I, especially my sister Laura, cared for them well, but the process was still heartbreaking. I found myself wondering how others without resources were able to cope.
“Soon after, I learned of The Senior Source and began working with the agency to raise vital funds and awareness. I joined the board and began hosting Jub Jam, a Texas music benefit concert and charity auction named for one of my nicknames on The Ticket. One of my favorite parts of the evening is presenting the Laura Grace Caregiver Award, named after my sister.”
“This year’s award winner will be announced on Thursday, August 18, at Macho Self Storage’s Jub Jam XI, presented by Maestro Dobel Tequila. Doors to the South Side Ballroom at Gilley’s Dallas open at 6:00 p.m. that night. The lineup includes performances by The Bird Dogs, The Buffalo Ruckus, Bobby Duncan, Steve Helms, Michael Padgett and a special Texas country music guest. Tickets are still available, but they’re going fast. Get yours before this great event sells out.
“You might just see your nominee on stage be applauded like a rock star for their selflessness.”
