While the 53rd Super Bowl might be remembered as the “Boring Bowl,” the real action was back a couple of weeks in the New Orleans-Los Angeles playoff game. Due to an “unsaintly” call by the refs, New Orleans was kicked out of the final contention for the Lombardi Trophy. Crescent Citizens took it hard. So hard, The Washington Post reported that the city’s French Quarter held “a massive ‘no watch’ party and protest rally, capping a second straight week of rage over officiating in the NFC championship game.” New Orleans TV ratings for the mega-sports event dropped by 50%.
Just imagine how the team felt!
Well, stop imagining and get your seat at the After-School All Stars‘ 2019 Rising Stars Luncheon. Event Co-Chairs Bev Bowman and Tara Conway have arranged to have Saints’ quarterback/Austin native Drew Brees on stage for a chat at Brook Hollow Golf Club. Boy, the stories this guy can… and will tell.
So far, the 2009 Super Bowl MVP-winning quarterback has let it be known that he was disappointed with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s silence on the blown call. By Thursday, May 9, he’ll probably have even greater insight about what should have been done and how the outcome against the Brady Bunch would have been different.
If you would like a sense of what to expect, check out Drew’s recent chat with sportscaster Dan Patrick here.
And while MySweetCharity would never suggest kids skip a class, this luncheon has been known to have some youngsters join their parents to learn from role models like previous speakers Dak Prescott and Jose Altuve.
Sponsorship are available here. Tables can be purchased here. Individual tickets & Dutch Treat tables will be released at a later date, if space allows.
