While some folks will spend the afternoon of Saturday, October 6, at the Cotton Bowl for the Red River Showdown, the theater-loving crowd will have an intimate evening of Broadway that night at The Fairmont’s Venetian Room.

Dallas Children’s Theater will present its 26th annual Cabaret Gala with Tony nominee Emily Skinner singing Rodgers and Hammerstein, Lerner and Lowe, Kander and Ebb, Sondheim, Gershwin, Kern and Berlin. And what would a cabaret be without some in-between-set comments by the Broadway babe, who has appeared in such Broadway productions as “Prince of Broadway,” “Jekyll and Hyde,” “James Joyce’s The Dead”, “The Full Monty,” “Dinner at Eight” and “Billy Elliott.” She earned a Tony nomination as one of the conjoined Hilton twins in “Side Show.”
Word has it that she will be in “The Cher Show” as Cher’s mother Georgia Holt when the show officially opens on Broadway in December.
To set the mood for the after-dinner fundraiser, DFW Theater Critics Forum Award-winning Janelle Lutz will be on stage for a pre-performance cocktail reception, “Cocktails and Cabaret,” at 7:30 p.m.
In addition to Emily, Cabaret Gala Co-Chairs Kara and Todd Ranta and Honorary Co-Chairs Jane and Bill Travis have arranged to have Julie Parolisi as raffle chair. Julie has pulled together five “luxury accommodation and travel packages to Mexico, San Francisco, New York City and a Jewelry Shopping Spree” with travel courtesy of Southwest Airlines.
Since seating is limited, better hop to it and get those reservations made. Tickets start at $150.
