After years of surviving tornado weather and a pandemic, Wilkinson Center is transitioning away from its longtime Can Do! Luncheon that has honored Carolyn and David Miller, Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas, Bishop Lynch High School, Kathy and Larry Helm, Junior League of Dallas, Jesuit College Preparatory School, Dr. Joyce Pickering, ORIX Foundation, Kaden Newton, Ashlee and Chris Kleinert, The Real Estate Council, Regina Montoya, North Texas Food Bank, Carlin Morris, Communities Foundation of Texas, Anne and Terry Conner, The Women of Saint Michael, John and Ellen McStay and Highland Park United Methodist Church, as well as many others in the past. And it’s replacing it with … a “non-event,” but still plenty of opportunities to support Wilkinson’s programs.
Instead of a seated luncheon at a “local country club,” the non-profit is going to do a No Can Do! Non-Luncheon, with 100% of proceeds from the “non-event” benefiting the Wilkinson programs.
According to Wilkinson’s Executive Director Daley Ryan, “While the Can Do! Luncheon was a fun and inspirational event for many years, we are excited to look at new opportunities to raise awareness and funds in support of Wilkinson Center’s programs. For those who have attended or supported the luncheon in the past, we hope they will continue their support this year, but from afar by winding down in their favorite chair, enjoying a cold drink and delicious snack, and making a gift to Wilkinson Center. And the best part – one hundred percent of all funds raised will go directly to our mission.”
So, what does all this mean? It means there will be no chairs, no honorees and no dates to put on calendars for parties. But there is an opportunity to continue to support this much needed program via non-event sponsorships and tickets.
