No sooner had the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League take a deep breath for its 2024 Junior Symphony Ball Saturday, January 27, with more than a thousand teenagers at Gilley’s Dallas and 2024 Presentation Ball (Saturday, February 10) with 44 debs bowing on the Meyerson stage, than they’ve already got the next fundraiser on the horizon.
DSOL’s 2024 Savor The Symphony Wine Dinner and Auction Co-Chairs Nikki Beneke and Joanie Stephens have arranged to have Susan and Mark Geyer and Katherine and Steve Smethie serve as honorary co-chairs.
According to the co-chairs, “We are beyond thrilled to have Susan and Mark Geyer, along with Katherine and Steve Smethie, as our honorary co-chairs. Their enduring support for the Dallas Symphony has been instrumental in shaping the cultural landscape of our community.”
Another coup for the event was having Hall Wines being featured during the reception at Lakewood Country Club on Friday, April 12.
Nikki and Joanie attribute the landing of Hall Wines to the Savor Underwriting Chair Donna Arp Weitzman, who is also a “close friend of the (Kathryn and Craig) Halls.”
In addition to the Hall Wine tastings, the reception will include a preview of the auction packages and a wine pull followed by a three-course dinner.
Funds raised thanks to the dinner will benefit benefit the Dallas Symphony Association and its education and outreach programs including:
- Young Strings, Kim Noltemy Young Musicians and the Cecil and Ida Green Youth Concert Series impact over 20,000 students and are vital as they promote brain development, opening doors to a brighter future and more opportunities.
- DSO On the Go brings the orchestra outside the Meyerson Symphony Center and into neighborhoods and communities around North Texas.
- MyDSO Concerts are specially designed for children and adults on the autism spectrum and with developmental disabilities, and their families, friends and caregivers.
Underwriting opportunities range from $2,500 to $20,000, with individual tickets priced from $500 to $1,500.
