Recently a person who had suffered countless years of battling health issues, including transplants, faced the final stage of the battle. Along with her family, she recognized that the end was near. As grievous as the decision was, it was a little less so when the choice was made to have her moved to The T. Boone Pickens Center.
Not only did the surroundings and compassionate staff bring her peace of mind, but they truly comforted those others who were suffering from the situation as well.
Ironically, it was in the days that followed that 2024 Each Moment Matters Co-Chairs Katie Townend Doherty and Katherine Wyker announced plans for the Forefront Living Foundation‘s Faith Presbyterian Hospice (FPH) Caring Fund fundraiser, which will be held on Friday, September 13, at the Hilton Anatole.
Katie and Katherine will be announcing the keynote speaker and the honoree in the weeks ahead.
The Faith Presbyterian Hospice Caring Fund provides the following: Benevolent Care for Unfunded Hospice Patients, Integrated Patient Comfort Therapies (Faith Difference), Children and Family Bereavement Center and Faithful Wishes.
Last year’s fundraiser’s $500K resulted in:
- 3,657 days of charitable care for unfunded patients;
- Over 3,500 music and therapeutic massage sessions and
- 464 children receiving children’s grief support services.
In support of the Each Moment Matters fundraising, 2021 virtual Each Moment Matters Co-Chairs Christie Carter, Beth and Dan Plumlee and Junior Villanueva are returning as honorary co-chairs.
The reason for their signing up to help again?
As organizers explained, “All of these individuals have each personally witnessed FPH transform the end-of-life experience and have been deeply touched by the mission to make each moment matter for those served by the organization.”
