According to Dallas Historical Society Executive Director Karl Chiao,
“The Dallas Historical Society celebrated its Centennial Anniversary last year. The mission of the Dallas Historical Society has always been to collect, preserve and exhibit the heritage of Dallas and Texas so that we can educate and inspire present and future generations.
“Over the past 100 years, the Dallas Historical Society has not only amassed a collection of over 3 million items (archival and artifacts) related to Dallas and Texas history, but we also exhibit these amazing artifacts on a regular basis at our home, the Hall of State in Fair Park. Whether it’s putting on the annual State Fair exhibit, displaying the only existing copy of the original Juneteenth document during the month of June, or showcasing our permanent interactive Battle of the Alamo diorama, there is plenty to see at the Hall of State.
“In addition to our year-round exhibits, we also offer wonderful programming that is not only entertaining but also educational. These programs include our Brown Bag lunches where local authors come and discuss their books, our Evening With! speaker series with noteworthy historians, and our Pour Yourself into History happy hours held at historical locations around Dallas.
“As we embark on our next 100 years, my wish this holiday season is for you and your family to become members of the Dallas Historical Society so that you can be a part of our programming and exhibits. If you are already a member, please be our advocate and invite friends to join. Visit the website at www.Dallashistory.org and the Membership Page is here: https://www.dallashistory.org/support/membership/.”
