With all of the hoopla from the past week of Two by Two and the upcoming 4th Annual Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas, with most of that funding going outside of North Texas, there’s a more locally designated offering on the artful table. It’s not bound by walls. Rather, it’s simply complementing the beauty of Ma Nature along the Katy Trail.
It started two years ago when the Friends of the Katy Trail kicked off the first Katy Trail Art Installation — Sara Cardona‘s “Seeding the Path.”

Since that time artists like Hadi Fallahpisheh, Jeff Gibbons, Gregory Ruppe and Nic Nicosia have provided works of art along the Trail.
Moving forward, Will Boone and Ivan Argote will “soon create new art experiences” to enhance the Trail’s natural beauty and mesmerize Trailers.

To continue this extraordinary exhibition of art along the Trail, the 2024 Katy Trail Art Society membership drive is underway for renewals and to welcome newcomers.
In addition to members celebrating the program, there will be a private dinner on Wednesday, November 8, with Will talking about his work that was recently installed on the Trail.
To help strengthen the Katy Trail Art Installation program, longtime Katy Trail supporters Amanda and Charlie Shufeldt have “donated $50,000 plus a matching $50,000 to encourage further 2023 art donations.”
It is that type of support that has over the years resulted in the Katy Trail being transformed from a railroad track for iron horses running from the Turtle Creek through the Park Cities area into a walkway for all to enjoy free of charge.
