As a sorta cold front finally arrived in the North Texas scene, The Stewpot Alliance President Cory Bowen and President-Elect Bea Njuguna kicked off the 2024 Soup’s On! last night with news about The Stewpot fundraiser.
Taking place at Kelly and James Voelker‘s home with goodies provided by longtime supporter Abraham Salum, it was announced that the luncheon would be co-chaired by Leah Jordan and Eric Swindle and Michelle and Rudy Segura with Vaughn and Tex Gross serving as honorary co-chairs. And, of course, Chef Brian Luscher will be rallying the chefs in the kitchen.
The keynote speaker will be Father Gregory Boyle, who founded Las Angeles’ Homeboy Industries, the largest gang intervention, rehabilitation and re-entry program in the world.
Returning to the Thompson Hotel, the fundraiser will take place on Monday, February 5, complete with its annual Art Show auction.
According to The Stewpot Executive Director Brenda Snitzer, it appears that 2023 will end up with the non-profit
- serving 230,000 meals to hungry and at-risk individuals;
- providing 1,200 individuals with their vital IDs so they can start a new life;
- stabilizing 125 households through year-long housing support;
- stabilizing 50 households with long-term support; and
- empowering 120 at-risk children and students to break the cycle of poverty and more.
While individual tickets won’t be available until Friday, December 1, sponsorships and underwriting opportunities are available here.
