It was back in 1988 as the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League Presentation Ball was getting its start when Barry Hancock was a member of the Honor Guard. Thanks to matchmaking/family friends Sharon McCullough and Tincy Miller, Barry was matched with debutante Margaret Augur.
Fast-forward to 1992, Margaret and Barry sealed the romantic deal and were married.
Over the years the family has continued its support of the DSO with Barry’s mother, Barbara Hancock, serving as ball chair and Margaret as the junior chair for the 1994 Presentation Ball.
Adding to the generational involvement with the program have been Margaret’s and Barry’s children — daughters Mary Margaret Hancock and Katherine Hancock as debutantes in 2016 and 2022, respectively, and son James Hancock in the 2020 Honor Guard.
So, it should be no surprise that 2024 Presentation Ball Chair Kristin Cordiak revealed that the former deb and her honor guard are coming full circle with the announcement that Margaret and Barry will be honorary co-chairs of the 2024 white-tie fundraiser.
As Margaret reported, “Our love of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra continues and we are so honored to be a part of the 2024 Presentation Ball.”
At this date, 44 women will be presented on the Meyerson stage on Saturday, February 10.
