According to Operation Kindness Communications Coordinator Samantha Van Dyke,
“Operation Kindness is a nonprofit animal welfare organization and shelter that serves homeless and community pets each day. From providing shelter, food and medical care to animals in need of new, loving homes, to providing veterinary services to pets across Texas, our goal is to change the lives of pets and pet parents for the better.
“Just last year, we were able to bring nearly 5,000 animals into our care, providing them with safe places to sleep, nourishment, medical attention, and of course, the love and attention they deserve before connecting them with new loving families. However, none of this would’ve been possible without generous donations from our supporters, like those who’ve donated on Communities Foundation of Texas’ North Texas Giving Day.
“Last year, our supporters raised an invaluable, lifesaving $300,000 during North Texas Giving Day. In turn, we gave thousands of dogs and cats the support they desperately needed.
“In addition to everyday needs at our shelter in Carrollton, donations helped fund our Community Initiatives team. This program offers spay and neuter surgeries, wellness veterinary medicine, and necessary vaccines to pets in veterinary deserts, or to communities in North Texas lacking veterinary resources. Our Community Initiatives team impacted over 6,000 animals in just the first five months after launching last year.
“We were also able to fund our neonatal kitten nursery, which offers lifesaving medical technology and round-the-clock care to underage kittens in need. Our nursery has been able to help over 700 kittens since opening just over a year ago.
“These programs have been instrumental in saving the lives of dogs and cats across North Texas, and they would simply not exist without donations from those who believe in our mission. From donations of time and volunteering to monetary gifts, our supporters are beyond critical to our lifesaving efforts.
“We’re thrilled to have been a part of this incredible fundraising event since its conception. Communities Foundation of Texas’ North Texas Giving Day is an exciting opportunity to bring awareness to organizations like ours across the region. Our animals, staff, volunteers, and community look forward to celebrating this year and for the opportunity to continue or work in the animal welfare community.”
