According to Klyde Warren Park President and CEO Kit Sawers,

“Klyde Warren Park serves as a central gathering space for Dallas and its visitors. The mission is to provide free programming and educational opportunities for the enrichment of visitors’ lives, showcase the diverse multitude of cultures and talents Dallas has to offer, and serve as a town square where citizens may congregate and create traditions together.
“The Park is a 5.4-acre urban green space built over Woodall Rodgers Freeway between Pearl and St. Paul streets, between Uptown and Downtown Dallas. It is privately operated and managed by the Woodall Rodgers Park Foundation and relies on contributions from donors to keep it clean, safe and active.

“Busy all year round, Klyde Warren Park offers more than 1,300 free annual activities for the entire community, including fitness classes, concerts, films, markets, cultural heritage festivals and annual holiday celebrations. Recently more than 35,000 people attended the Annual Independence Day Celebration Presented by Texas Capital, the City of Dallas’ official 4th of July fireworks.
“Last year, Klyde Warren Park celebrated its 10th anniversary with the opening of the Nancy Best Fountain (funded by Nancy and Randy Best) and the expanded Sheila and Jody Grant Children’s Park (funded by the Perot family, Sowden family, Durham family and others). These beautiful features joined My Best Friend’s (dog) Park, bustling food truck area and popular Reading and Games Room for top spots to visit on a trip to the Park.

“The Park has served as a major development catalyst for the ongoing transformation of the region, not only through a significant economic impact to the City (more than $4 billion to date) but also by bringing increased quality of life and foot traffic to the area.
“Welcoming more than one million visitors each year and being copied by cities around the country (between 50-100 deck parks are currently being modeled after it), Klyde Warren Park’s importance to Dallas cannot be overstated. And, since the Park receives no City funding, Communities Foundation of Texas’ North Texas Giving Day is an important resource for revenue, helping to spread the word that it is a nonprofit.
“Thanks to the platform North Texas Giving Day offers, the Park’s base of donors continues to climb every year, allowing more opportunities to create free programs that bring people together from every neighborhood, every background and every socioeconomic level. If you have enjoyed what the Park has to offer, consider making a donation, joining the Friends of Klyde Warren Park membership society, or honoring someone by purchasing a tree, bench, bistro chair or even a dog bone on the donor wall in My Best Friend’s Park.”
