While some pretties are still lolling around the pool slathering on lotion, others are shunning the sun worshiping. Instead they’re ginning up their gray matter to come up with their recommendations for the Business Council for the Arts (BCA) 2023 Obelisk Awards.

Longtime BCA supporters/2023 Obelisk Co-Chairs Rachael and Evan Singer and Honorary Co-Chairs Nancy A. Nasher and David J. Haemisegger have just opened up the nominations here.
This year’s categories include Business Champion for the Arts, Visionary Nonprofit Arts Leader, Arts Education, Arts Partnerships, New Arts Initiatives, Distinguished Cultural Organization, and Outstanding Leadership Arts Alumnus, among others.

Nominations for this year’s crop of Obeliskees are due by Monday, September 11. Yipes! That’s just less than six weeks away.
The honoring of the 2023 Obelisk awardees will take place on Thursday, November 9, at the brand, spanking new JW Marriott Dallas Arts District.
According to BCA CEO Stacie Wheelock Adams, “Rachael became involved with the BCA through the Leadership Arts Institute (LAI) (Class of 2003) and quickly introduced Evan to the benefits of LAI (Class of 2004). Through their dedication to our community, these two North Texas executives and volunteers are wonderful examples of leaders in North Texas and are ideal co-chairs for this year’s Obelisk Awards.”
So, while you’re taking a summer break from all that fundraising and even organizing, sit back and think about those folks who overcame the post-pandemic challenges and led the charge to energize North Texas arts.
