Former Ambassador to NATO/U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison is returning to the Dallas Arboretum‘s Great Contributors Dinner on Sunday, November 5.
Unlike last year’s fundraiser where she was the honoree, she will be interviewing the 2023 honoree Ret. U.S. Navy Four-Star Admiral/New York times Best-Selling author William H. McRaven.
During his tenure in the Navy, he “oversaw the 2011 Navy Seal raid in Pakistan that killed al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.”
A University of Texas graduate with a degree in journalism, McRaven returned to his alma mater to serve as chancellor of The University of Texas System and joined the University of Texas’ LBJ School of Public Affairs as a professor in national security in 2018.
It was also during his college days that he met his wife Georgeann, who was also enrolled at UT.
According to Arboretum Board Chair Will McDaniel, “Admiral McRaven embodies the Great Contributors Award as he has given his life selflessly in the military and academia for the benefit of others, especially his mission to make our nation a safer place.”
The conversation will cover such topics as world affairs, intelligence and national security.
Event Co-Chairs Robin and Jim Carreker have scheduled the event to take place just two days before the 2023 off-year federal and state elections, which will no doubt be added to the chat.
