Two years ago North Texans realized that the COVID invasion was at the doorstep when the annual St. Patrick’s Day 2020 Greenville Avenue Parade was canceled. After another year of the avenue falling victim to pandemic protocols, the Greenville Avenue Parade is returning this Saturday with the avenue greening up with shamrocks and more kisses than the Blarney Stone could bear.
But then Mother Nature evidently ain’t Irish. As organizers are preparing to install barricades and portable potties in place, the Friday preparations are brrr-ing with temperatures causing a real challenge.
Not to worry. While the parade will still take place, it will be a brave soul who dons shorts and T-shirts with temperatures nudging the 50s. Lucky is the leprechaun whose wardrobe includes green leggings, sock caps and mittens to support the Greenville Avenue Area Business Association‘s “providing assistance to DISD students in the Greenville Avenue area who show scholastic promise but are otherwise financially challenged.”
FYI: If you have some shopping along Greenville Avenue on Friday or Saturday, get your errands done early because you just know that the area is gonna be busy setting up and partying on until Sunday.
