It’s not every day a North Texas organization celebrates its 120th anniversary, so when the ChildCareGroup had to postponed its big anniversary event in September due to the Delta variant, fingers were crossed that the new date — Wednesday, January 12 — would work out for the celebration at the then-Belo Mansion (now Arts District Mansion). But Delta’s kissing cousin Omicron has put the kibosh on that hope.
According to ChildCareGroup President/CEO Tori Mannes, “The Omicron surge has created too big a risk for us to gather safely in person. We are so disappointed not to be able to celebrate this milestone anniversary with our present and past board and staff, funders and community partners. However, the health and safety of our employees and those we serve have always been our top priority. With Dallas County on a ‘red’ health threat level, hospitals at full capacity and even fully vaccinated individuals experiencing breakthrough cases, we felt this was the most appropriate decision.
“We are excited to begin our 121st year of service to the community and offer our heartfelt thanks to all those who have been a part of our long legacy of service. We hope to be able to celebrate with everyone at a future date.”
