Starting a year ago this month, the pandemic started its onslaught throughout the world. Despite it making front-page news daily, medical professionals, researchers and patients had to juggle COVID-19 with the challenge of other, already ongoing health problems. One of those was pediatric cancer.
Even before COVID-19 made the scene, children’s cancer was a double-edged sword. It was way too devastating for family and friends to imagine a little one suffering through such a disease. On the other hand, too many times it was not among the top ten of diseases receiving attention from the medical community.
That’s why the March 13th cancellation of the 2020 Children’s Cancer Fund‘s annual gala was a real blow. It was to be co-chaired by blonde moms Holly Pellham Davis and Jamie O’Banion.
But despite the cancellation, BeautyBio Founder/CEO Jamie “strategized and cultivated campaigns for providing patient crafts and delivering gifts to pediatric cancer patients” and stayed on board, literally, by recently joining the CCF’s Advisory Board.
According to CCF Executive Director Jennifer Arthur, “Jamie is a leading force in the community, and she is committed to our mission in supporting kids with cancer. She’s all heart. 2021 is a game changer, new ideas, new strategies, to carry out the same mission. We’ve already raised hundreds of thousands of dollars this year without events, and we are committed to investing in Cancer Research and Child Life services.”
