When The Wilkinson Center’s Can Do! Luncheon was created, it was to spotlight “those who exemplify entrepreneurship in philanthropy and the ‘can do’ spirit that makes great things happen in our community.”
The 2020 Can Do! Luncheon Chair Pam Busbee has just announced the recipients of the eighth annual fundraising luncheon at the Dallas Country Club on Monday, March 2.
Drum roll, please!
- Can Do! Couple Award — No surprise on this one. It’s Carolyn and David Miller, who just impressed headline writers with their $50M donation to SMU. That brought their total pony support to a whopping $100M. But that wasn’t their first philanthropic rodeo. In addition to their David B. Miller Family Foundation’s support, they have provided leadership and support personally to Southwestern Medical Foundation, Goodwill Industries of Dallas, Genesis Women’s Foundation and many others. Why, just last year when their friends Kathy and Larry Helm were honored at the Can Do! Luncheon, Carolyn and David served as sponsors.
- Can Do! Organization Award — Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas will receive the award for its “engaging employers and offering competitive solutions to job seekers. They are the lead and fiduciary for the government grant, administered by Texas Workforce that funds the Dallas Education and Literacy Consortium of which Wilkinson Center is a founding member. Through the leadership of Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas and Dallas Executive Director Laurie Laurea, the Consortium is providing free programming to over 8,000 adult students throughout the Dallas metropolitan area.”
- Kids Can Too! Award — Bishop Lynch High School has achieved this award “for its many year of service to Wilkinson Center as volunteers in the Food Pantry along with the shoe, turkey and toy distribution.”
Tickets will be available starting on Friday, November 1, for the luncheon at the Dallas Country Club.
