When Karen and Craig Goodman opened their art-filled home for tonight’s party for guests to learn about the Women’s Council of the Dallas Aboretum‘s 2019 Writer’s Garden Symposium and Luncheon details, they had no idea that there would be an unscheduled surprise.

Being chaired by Regina Bruce and Joni Krieg, the evening get-together was simply billed as the authors’ announcement. But Dallas Arboretum Women’s Council President Venise Stewart (fresh from lounging-on-Jamaica-beach reading) and Writer’s Chair Nikki Beneke had more surprises up their sleeves.
When author/designer Bunny Williams was revealed as one of the authors, it hit a chord for those with designing minds. One commented, “She’s amazing.”
Bunny’s “An Affair With A House” was just released this past April. By the time she hits the Arboretum, she just may have another one for the signing.

As for the second author, it’ll be Garden & Gun President/CEO Rebecca Wesson Darwin, who has a heady resume that includes her latest book, “Southern Ladies,” that’s due for distribution this October.

Factoid: It seems that when Nikki was chatting with Rebecca about Bunny being “the second speaker,” Rebecca fessed up that “Bunny is one of the featured ladies in my new book.” Small literary world, huh?
Regarding the honorary chair, it will be Carmen Hancock, with Lucy Billingsley hosting the patron party the night before the main event.
As for the unscheduled surprise, it was wrapped up in the news that Texas Monthly scribe Skip Hollandsworth will be interviewing Bunny and Rebecca individually.
That development is a real game-changer. With Skipper handling the interviews, the interviewees will in for the time of their lives.
Already, “Garden & Gun” has signed up as the national media sponsor for the Dallas Arboretum Women’s Council’s fundraiser.
