Over in one corner, Lynn McBee had buttonholed John Suhgrue. Not far away, Kelli and Allen Questrom were marveling at Dallas’ very pleasant weather, having just returned from a spell in Colorado. And Dianne and Mark LaRoe were lamenting having missed the Dallas Opera’s recent First Sight event, since Dianne’s mother had arrived that day at D/FW Airport.
Those were a few scenes from the announcement party for Art Ball 2019, held on Thursday, October 11, at the gleaming, contemporary, Melba Greenlee-built home of Catherine and Will Rose. The party for about 85 guests featured Art Ball 2019 Co-chairs Lindsey Collins and Amanda Shufeldt (although Amanda, unfortunately, was running a little late).
The big, 54th annual fundraiser for the Dallas Museum of Art, guests learned, will be held on Saturday, April 27, at the DMA. Its theme will be “Form & Function: A Celebration of Craftsmanship Throughout the Collection” and, once again, Todd Fiscus will work his magic to decorate the space.
Those learning the details included Shonn and Clarence Brown, Kimberly and Justin Whitman, Ann and Lee Hobson, Agustin Arteaga, and Carlos Gonzalez-Jaime.
Over the years, the DMA’s Art Ball has raised tens of millions of dollars to support the museum’s mission. The 2018 gala brought in net revenue of $1.3 million.
