According to 2018 Cattle Baron Ball’s Co-Chairs Katy Bock and Jonika Nix,
Combat Cowboy, a veteran’s salute to give cancer the boot, is a benefit concert with proceeds earmarked specifically for veterans’ related cancer services and programs as well as vital research in areas that directly affect veterans and their families in North Texas. The Dallas Cattle Baron’s Ball, via the American Cancer Society, will oversee the funds.
The concert will be generously hosted by Canton Hall in Deep Ellum on Wednesday evening, September 5, with entertainment by opening act Thom Shepherd followed by headliner Paul Cauthen. Paul’s music has been described as “Texas country with a twinge of gospel.” Rolling Stone magazine referred to him as “one of the most fascinating and eccentric new voices in country music.”
This will be a great way to gear up for the Cattle Baron’s Ball in October which also will include a salute to veterans, who have given so much to protect our country.
Dallas’ Cattle Baron’s Ball is the original western gala started 45 years to raise money for cancer research in North Texas. Our brand has grown over the decades and we have raised more than $77 million for cancer research. We continue to have the distinction of being the largest single event fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Please join us at this special pre-ball event.
