It’s double Oscar time in these parts. Come Sunday night a lot of folks are going to be tuning into the 90th Academy Awards to see which movie of the year will be the best — “Darkest Hour,” “Dunkirk,” “The Post,” “Lady Bird,” “Phantom Thread,” “Call Me By Your Name,” “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing,” “Get Out” or “The Shape of Water.”

And speaking of “shape” and Oscars, Crystal Charity Ball Chair Claire Emanuelson and Crystal Charity Ball Fashion Show And Luncheon Chair Heather Esping just sent word that the designs featured at the fundraiser in Neiman Marcus Downtown on Friday, September 14, will be the Oscar de la Renta Resort 2018 Collection.
Though the late, great designer has been gone for years, his line is being created by Creative Directors Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia. Their style has evolved since they took over less than a couple of years ago, with their latest collection receiving manicured thumbs-up during February’s New York Fashion Week.
As for the 10 Best Dressed and Hall of Famer, that announcement will be revealed on Wednesday, March 21.
The great news is that Laura and Fernando will be at the children’s fundraiser in September. The not-so-wonderful news is that tickets are not available. Stay tuned.
BTW, if you want the inside poop on the Academy Awards, Hayley Hamilton Cogill and Gary Cogill will be sharing wisdom and wine at “Wine And Film: 90th Academy Awards Preview” to benefit the Dallas Film Society, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, at the Studio Movie Grill at Royal and Central Expressway. Tickets are available here!
