Thursday’s closing night for the 2014 Encore for Advocacy concert series. With An Evening With Patty Griffin and Mavis Staples on stage at the Majestic Theatre, the fundraiser “will provide a unique opportunity to see Grammy Award-winner Griffin and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Stables, two of music’s most beloved singers, in an intimate setting with proceeds supporting the music therapy program for abused children at the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center.”
Launched in 2011, Encore for Advocacy provided a unique venue of using music therapy in working with abused children in Dallas County. Past performers, who participated in the program, include Jimmy LaFave, Slaid Cleaves, Eliza Gilkyson, Terri Hendrix, Lloyd Maines, Ben Taylor, Emily Elbert and Jimmy Wayne.
Whoa! More than two-thirds of the tickets are gone and the concert is just a day away, so time is ticking away. Instead of sitting at home and giving into the chill of the night, head on over to the Majestic for a night of great music.
