“Chasing Beauty” Examines The Cost Of Beauty Thursday For Attitudes & Attire At The Studio Movie Grill

Do beautiful people get treated better than the rest of the world? That’s just one of the questions raised in the 2012 documentary “Chasing Beauty.” In today’s world, beauty is the apple on the tree that always seems just out of reach. Young women starve themselves with dreams of becoming cover girls and walking catwalks. Perfection is sought on operating tables. Aging is frowned upon. The mirror becomes way too important.

The movie focuses on the world of modeling and addresses all these issues with experts and veterans of the beauty world — models, plastic surgeons, agents, photographers, make-up artists, designers and psychologists.

Benefiting Attitudes & Attire, a showing of the film will take place Thursday at Studio Movie Grill on Spring Valley. Afterwards “Chasing Beauty” writer/director Brent Huff will be part of a panel discussion. Having been a model and actor, Brent knows firsthand “the treacherous landscape of the modeling industry.”

It’s not a pretty story, but it is pretty necessary. Why not take that teenage daughter or overly ambitious mom/grandmom to check it out. Here’s the trailer for your consideration.
