According to American Dog Rescue Founder Arthur E. Benjamin,
“American Dog Rescue’s mission of ‘No Dog Without a Home’ is carried through the work we do nationally and internationally, but the work we have done in Dallas this year alone has been one of the most rewarding of my life so far. In January 2012, we started a weekly TV show, ‘For the Love of Dogs,’ which featured animal rights advocates and the incredible work they do in North Texas and beyond. This gave me a chance to put their tireless work on a pedestal and share the animal rescue stories that so often go unnoticed with a wider audience. We have also just completed a 12-week competition. America’s Best Tails, where dog lovers shared stories and donated the winnings to local non-profits. The 2012 Best in Show $5,000 Grand Prize winner will be revealed on December 29!
“Founding American Dog Rescue has been so rewarding because it has taken me to the ends of the earth to help animals and not only dogs. I underwrite all of the administrative costs so 100% of donations goes towards animal rescue across the globe including closing down puppy mills, saving and expanding animal shelters and helping those who struggle with PTSD, specifically soldiers adjusting to life after deployment by pairing them with service dogs. Just in the last few days I have worked with Kimberly Jenkins, president of EARS (Education and Animal Rescue Society) in Dallas, Soi Dogs in Thailand and an animal lover in Australia to save the life of a dog destined for the illegal dog meat trade in Thailand. We have arranged for “Sea Lion” to come live in Dallas with an EARS foster mother for 6 months before he travels to his forever home in Australia. This is a perfect example of three advocacy groups working together across the globe to save the life of a dog and raise awareness of the 30 million dogs consumed for meat in a trade that is amongst the most brutal atrocities on our planet. Sea Lion is a true Christmas miracle and I feel so thankful I can help make this happen through American Dog Rescue.”
