Jonnie England of the Metroplex Animal Coalition just notified MySweetCharity that three cats and nine dogs will be euthanized this Monday if they’re not adopted or rescued. No, they are not killer cats and scary pooches. They just aren’t puppies and kittens anymore and, let’s face it — young beats out experienced in pet picking most of the time.
Look, the folks at the “pound” do not. . . repeat, do not. . . enjoy killing friendly, sweet critters, but they’re faced with staggering numbers for three reasons:
- Owners are not spay and neutering
- Financial times are forcing people to turn in their pets.
- Irresponsible owners who do not take care of their pets and let them loose.
So, head to the shelter (it’s really quite excellent), take a look at the following critters — potential pets or possible victims:
- SACHA – Star# 3 – A# 625448 DSH F/S Gry/Wht – 2 yr. – 8lbs.

Jonnie England walks on water. But please let me give a second of encouragement for those sitting on the fence. Rescued animals are the most loving because they cannot talk but they can show you their love & appreciation every day of their life with you. One of the animals that is about to be killed is dying to be your guardian angel; there when you wake up, beside you when you go to bed. Unable to show you how much they understand that you saved their life any way other than to be wagging a tail or purring each time they are near you, snuggling next to you when they sense you are having a tough time.
Please also know that large dogs can be the sweetest teddy bears while small dogs can be their mascot. And never let ANYone tell you that cats & dogs don’t ‘get along’. In fact they form delightful alliances that make adults laugh the way kids do when they watch cartoons.
For those of us who seek proof there is a God outside of words in church, all it takes to me is the woods & a dog. Or a cat in your lap when you are typing as is my case just now.
Please open your heart to these animals who ask nothing other than to prove their worth. Which is likely to exceed any financial investment you make in this lifetime. Take that to the bank.

The day is always vastly better when we hear from Rawlins.
Good news! I just heard from Jonnie and there are only four dogs (3 boys and one girl) in need of rescue. The SPCA stepped in and took as many as they could. Now it’s up to the rest of humanity.
