With the solar eclipse in the rear-view mirror, the Friends of the Katy Trail ‘s Spring Support Campaign is in full bloom. Campaign Honorary Co-Chairs Brittany and Baxter Underwood are aiming to raise $100,000.
As Baxter explained, “The Katy Trail is a beautiful and welcoming green space for all. It is a citywide gathering place that provides wellness, a nature experience, a sense of belonging in our community and alternative transportation. We ask all who love and use the Trail to support the important work of Friends of the Katy Trail by making a gift to the Spring Support Campaign.”
Already there have been 821,000 visits to the Trail since January, “setting a pace that the Trail may reach 3M visits this year.” That would be a million more than last year!
Thanks to funds raised through the Spring Support Campaign, such things as landscape maintenance, beautiful native plants, lights and electricity, signs and water for the three “P’s” (people, pets and plants) are made possible.
According to Friends of the Katy Trail Major Gifts and Membership Senior Director Ann Whitley Wood, “The annual Spring Support Campaign is a key part of raising the funds needed to operate the Trail in the first half of the year. Gifts of any size are so appreciated! Donors of $1,000 or more are recognized online plus on a sign on the Katy Trail and company donors of $5,000+ may provide a logo for recognition.”
