According to Texas State History Museum Foundation Trustee Lisa Cooley,
“On Thursday, February 29, the Texas State History Museum Foundation will honor Texas legends The Honorable Alberto R. Gonzales and Kern Wildenthal, M.D., Ph.D. with the History-Making Texan Award. The award will be presented at the Foundation’s annual Texas Independence Day Dinner at the Bullock Museum in Austin.
“Pam and Richard Leshin of Corpus Christi serve as the event chairs and Jan Felts Bullock of Austin is the honorary chair.
“The dinner celebrates the state’s rich cultural heritage and generates support for the Bullock Museum, the nation’s premier institution on Texas history. More than 450 business, political and community leaders from around the state attend the event.
“Through the generosity of event sponsors, the evening raises critical support for foundation’s efforts to fund the many educational programs and special projects of the Bullock Museum, including School Tours and Distance Learning that benefit over 85,000 students annually.
“My wish is to make every Texan, children and adults, aware of this very special museum and its importance in preserving the history of Texas and people who have made this state such a great place in which to live, raise a family and conduct business. As a trustee and former gala chair, I have seen the value of this programming.
“This year’s recipients reached the pinnacle of accomplishments and eminence in their fields. Importantly, they were selected as honorees based on their personal character and commitment to improving the lives of others. They stand as role models to emulate, and we look forward to sharing their dramatic and inspiring stories with our guests.
“And their stories of success need to be told beyond the black-tie event. Your support of the gala provides funding that will make these rich stories of dedication and perseverance a true example for Texans of all ages.
