According to The Magdalen House Men’s Programming Director Austin Shook,
“For 36 years, The Magdalen House has proudly provided no-cost recovery services and support for alcoholic women and their loved ones. We are excited to introduce these same services for men in January 2024. This marks a significant expansion of our mission and is a testament to our commitment to inclusivity and our belief in the transformative power of recovery for all.
“To help launch Men’s First Step, a two-week, residential recovery program, we need the community’s support. We are asking generous donors to help us gather essential items for the program – kitchenware, cooking essentials, condiments, coffee, highlighters, Big Books, whiteboards, intake phones, flashlights, storage organizers, pillows, bedding, mattresses, and men’s underwear.

“The community can be a part of this transformative journey by contributing to our Men’s Program through our Amazon wishlist. It is our wish that the generosity of our community will help us create a nurturing and supportive environment, allowing individuals to take their first steps toward recovery with dignity and hope.
“One in nine adults in the U.S. is an alcoholic and there are over 650,000 alcoholics located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, alone. In D/FW, The Magdalen House provides residential recovery, detox, group meetings, structured programs, family support groups, and tools designed to help individuals grow and sustain recovery.”
