According to Grant Halliburton Foundation Board Chair Lucy Witte,
“My wish for Grant Halliburton Foundation is to have the financial support from our community to help all North Texans who need mental health assistance. The Foundation’s mental health education programs are growing exponentially and have reached more than 325,000 youth and adults since 2006. To continue offering this level of service, Grant Halliburton Foundation needs your contribution.
“The funding helps the Foundation offer the Here For Texas Mental Health Navigation Line, a free helpline offering guidance, information, resources and support for mental health and substance abuse. This helpline is answered by volunteers and is offered in English and Spanish. In fact, my husband, Don, has volunteered more than 750 hours answering calls from those asking, ‘Here’s what’s going on, what do I do?’ Your gift will help us keep these lines open and accessible.
“Through Hope Squad, we offer a student-led peer-to-peer group that promotes mental health and suicide prevention in schools. To date, we have 89 Hope Squads on 27 school systems in Texas. These gifts will help us expand Hope Squad to even more schools in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
“Finally, our Thrive education team visits schools and community organizations throughout North Texas, providing mental health and suicide prevention training for students, teachers and faculty. The team presents on topics such as depression, suicide prevention, bullying and resilience. Our hope is to equip youth and adults with the tools and knowledge to raise awareness, recognize signs of distress, and seek help. Funds will continue to underwrite the cost of these programs.
