Gee, it’s not even Halloween, but area hosts/hostesses and non-profits are already putting together plans for Thanksgiving. The smart ones, who enjoy supporting more than those at their dinner tables, are on board for the 11th Power Of Pie (POP) fundraiser for the Visiting Nurse Association of Texas (VNA).
It’s a delicious opportunity to support VNA’s programs that help area seniors as well as to serve up a Thanksgiving dessert.
From now until Friday, November 17, pumpkin and pecan pies plus pumpkin bread will be available for $25 per pie and $15 per loaf.
Since its inception, POP has provided more than $500K for VNA’s Meals on Wheels, Hospice and Palliative Care programs.
According to VAN President/CEO Katherine Krause, “The purchase of pies and bread feeds more than folks at your Thanksgiving table. It provides food, friendship and comforting care to homebound and seriously ill neighbors. I’m grateful to the members of the culinary community who donate their time and talent to this beloved event, as well as our generous supporters for ensuring that the holidays are a special and memorable time for our clients.”
Thanks to restaurants and bakers like Brook Hollow Golf Club, Cafe Momentum, Central Market, CTI Foods, Doubletree Hotel-Campbell Center, Empire Baking Co., Knife, La Duni Baking Studio, JR Bakes, Norma Cafe, Northwood Club, Parigi, Sugar and Sage Bakery and Coffee, Trio Community Meals, Uncle Willie’s Pies and Ventura Foods, the pies and loaves will be ready to be picked up at six area locations on Tuesday, November 21, and Wednesday, November 22. One of those locations is Power of Pie Presenting Sponsor Interabang Books.
And if your diet isn’t allowing desserts, you can still make a $15 and/or $25 donation to VNA.
