According to Mammogram Poster Girls’ Jubei Mercado,
“At Mammogram Poster Girls (MPG), our mission is clear – we provide mammograms and breast cancer diagnostics to uninsured or underinsured women in North Texas. Thanks to our generous supporters, dedicated volunteers, and the visibility we have received through initiatives like Communities Foundation of Texas’ North Texas Giving Day, we have been able to expand our outreach across the Metroplex!
“We have also added the Jamie’s Light of Love program, targeted to women under the age of 40 who are at high risk for breast cancer. This program honors Jamie Rodriguez, a passionate supporter of early breast cancer detection who tragically lost her life to breast cancer at the young age of 37.
“We know that early detection is key to a better outcome – mammograms save lives. MPG has provided over 1,000 mammograms and diagnostic procedures, free of charge, to women in North Texas.
However, we can’t do it alone. Support from our community is essential for MPG to continue our current programs as well as to expand the number of women we can impact through early detection. Please join us on this journey of hope, compassion, and early detection – saving lives, one mammogram at a time.
“Mammogram Poster Girls needs donations to help support and expand our ongoing Two-Fer Tuesday program: get a mammogram, get a meal. This program was created in 2020 to help support the then-struggling service economy, while also providing life-saving screening mammograms. Two-fer Tuesday is a joint initiative of Mammogram Poster Girls with Methodist Health System and locally-owned MWOB restaurants. These events are held on the first Tuesday of each month.
“At each event, MPG provides a mammogram, free of charge for under/uninsured patients. MPG also provides a meal/restaurant gift card (purchased from a locally-owned MWOB restaurant) for each patient served on the Methodist Mobile Mammography Unit. The Two-Fer Tuesday events have been very well-received – generally, they are fully booked! MPG is seeking funding to continue this program through 2023. We are also seeking funding to continue and expand our Jamie’s Light of Love events.”
