According to Turtle Creek Park Conservancy’s Luminary Dinner Chair Pam Busbee,
‘Since 1903, Turtle Creek Park has been a natural oasis for Dallas residents and visitors, providing a sense of place and peace. Twenty acres of natural beauty in the heart of the city offer a serene retreat for walks, picnics, special events and simply contemplating nature. As a native Dallasite, I continue to enjoy the serenity and accessibility of this Dallas treasure.
“Construction is booming in Dallas and I find it comforting that Turtle Creek Park, tucked into one of Dallas’ most beautiful and historic neighborhoods, remains an oasis open to people from all over the city without any impact from the numerous construction projects that are underway.
“This unique park is a refuge from city life that has been protected and preserved for decades, all so that the people of our city have a place to stretch their legs, play, contemplate and celebrate. The group of dedicated citizens who consider it their privilege to care for this park is the Turtle Creek Conservancy.
“The park appeals to all walks of life including children from nearby economically challenged neighborhoods, residents in the high-rise buildings along the creek and businesses who appreciate the beauty and accessibility of an oasis in the center of the city.
“I am honored to serve as chair of the Turtle Creek Conservancy’s Luminary Dinner on Thursday, November 9. This special evening will be at the award-winning Salum Restaurant and will feature an exquisite dinner prepared exclusively for top donors. Chef/owner Abraham Salum, noted James Beard House honoree, is personally preparing the menu for the lucky guests who will be rewarded for their generosity.
“I recently attended an event at the park and enjoyed meeting a diverse group of supporters of all ages who helped raise record funds for the continued care and preservation of Turtle Creek Park. As Turtle Creek Conservancy President Tiffany Divis often says the operation and maintenance of the Park is a true example of how public-private partnerships can yield great results.
“The organization’s leadership is committed to providing meaningful, entertaining and educational programs that are open to the public. I encourage you to take this opportunity to visit Turtle Creek Park and consider becoming a member of the Turtle Creek Conservancy. Your investment will yield results for years to come.
“Now more than ever, the Turtle Creek Conservancy needs generous donor support to increase our impact in the Dallas community through events and property management. They are committed to caring for 20,000 seasonal plants, 1,500 trees, maintaining miles of paths, trails and walkways, landscape irrigation, replacement and upkeep of 600+azaleas, park lighting as well as the maintenance, repairs and improvements at Arlington Hall.
“Please join the effort to lift the Turtle Creek Conservancy to a new level in the mission of caring for Turtle Creek Park and Arlington Hall by visiting ww.turtlecreekconservancy.org.”
