According to The AUsome Allen Foundation Co-Founder Erica Howell,
“The AUsome Allen Foundation hosts various events to support individuals with special needs and abilities. Our foundation gives special needs individuals a chance to be a part of a team bigger than their diagnosis, empowering them to be stronger than their challenges. We want them to know they’re not alone and are covered with love and support within their AUsome Allen family. It is our hope that those individuals, affectionately referred to as heroes, participate in our events.
“Our foundation’s motto is ‘ability, not disability.’ Our purpose is to raise money to help heroes and their families live full and happy lives. We take great pride in our growing ability to supply networking opportunities, resources, and support for heroes of all ages and abilities. We aim to provide emotional and physical support while creating lifelong friendships and trust.
“We believe a big part of a successful life is strong physical, emotional, and mental health. This includes having an outlet, such as a place to go where you can play, hang out with friends and family, celebrate, and be yourself. We want to create that place of comfort and joy. After all, it’s good for the heart.
“To have the opportunity to provide this space for our heroes and their loved ones is the ultimate dream! Our AUsome Allen team has hearts big enough to change the world. To make this AUsome build happen, we’ve partnered with Whirlwix, the builders of The Dream Park in Fort Worth, to help build the first-of-its-kind wheelchair-accessible treehouse, birthday party rooms, a nature trail and more.
“We know that through support on Communities Foundation of Texas’ North Texas Giving Day, our foundation will touch hearts while changing the lives of special needs heroes. The more people we reach, the more mountains we move, the more resources we get, and the more we can provide short-term and long-term care for heroes and their families.
“In addition to the park, we hope to continue AUsome Allen’s original mission, which is to sponsor heroes in attending a summer camp geared toward those with special needs. This allows our heroes to enjoy the same camp experiences that so many others hold dear from their childhoods. This camp allows attendees to safely step out of their comfort zone and try new things. These experiences help heroes develop skills in areas key to a successful life.
“Together we will change the world with, and for, our special needs heroes! To find out more about us and our upcoming events that include special needs heroes and celebrities, go to AUsomeAllen.com. We invite you to consider joining our growing group of sponsors, monthly partners, and volunteers.”
