According to Patriot Paws Service Dogs Director of Operations Rick Stevens,

“Patriot Paws Service Dogs is a Rockwall, Texas-based national non-profit that trains and provides Service Dogs of the highest quality at no cost to disabled American Veterans, First Responders, and others, who suffer from mobile disabilities, Traumatic Brain Injuries, and/or Post-Traumatic Stress. Each Patriot Paws Service Dog takes 18-24 months to fully train at a cost of over $35,000.

“Trying to navigate simple daily tasks while being confined to a wheelchair, struggling with memory loss, or suffering from hypervigilance due to Post-Traumatic Stress can be extremely cumbersome. However, we know the impact our life-changing Service Dogs can have on the lives of our Veterans. When you receive a Patriot Paws Service Dog, you can rest assured that you are receiving an animal that has been trained to the highest of standards by individuals who have a passion for improving the lives of those who fought for our freedoms. We have seen firsthand how our Service Dogs do amazing things, and we take pride in having changed the lives of over 400 Veterans and their families.

“Over the years, Communities Foundation of Texas’ North Texas Giving Day has helped Patriot Paws Service Dogs raise over $400,000 – that’s the lives of 11 Veterans forever changed by a Patriot Paws Service Dog! Thanks to Communities Foundations of Texas, we can raise awareness of the injuries our Veterans return home with – both visible and invisible – and help our Veterans right here in North Texas.

“North Texas Giving Day has also provided Patriot Paws with the opportunity to connect with individuals and corporations who share the same passion for giving back to our Veterans. Through volunteer efforts, donation drives and Freedom Day activities, Communities Foundation of Texas has allowed us to make a ripple effect in the lives of our clients, and their families!

“It is said that 22 Veterans commit suicide a day. Patriot Paws is about more than just providing Service Dogs to disabled Veterans, it’s about giving Veterans confidence, peace of mind, and a sense of hope that they may not have felt for a long time. With 80 Veterans currently waiting to receive a Patriot Paws Service Dog, we appreciate any help you could give this North Texas Giving Day.”
