In days of yore when horse-drawn carriages delivered the livery set to special occasions, it was the clip-clop of hooves on cobblestone that announced their arrival.
But that was ages ago. The 21st century mansion still hearkens back to the pavestone ways, but nowadays the stones are limited to the homes’ circular driveways. And the hooves have been replaced by luxury-vehicle tires and stiletto heels. On this occasion, the valets were taking the pretties from their Lexuses, Mercedes and Altos at the curb, resulting in the gals crossing the driveway stones as gingerly as tightrope walkers traversing the Trinity.
Like Marines facing an obstacle course, some, like the 2023 Mad Hatter’s Majestic Mad Hatter’s Luncheon Honorary Chair Kim Hext and stalwart Carole Ann Brown, took on the challenge with a little help from their gents Greg Hext and Dick Brown, respectively, who offered their arms to assist the tottering stroll.
Such was the scene at the 2023 Mad Hatter’s Team patron party on Wednesday, April 12, at Cindy and Michael Rosenthal‘s mansion in Preston Hollow.
But once guests like Women’s Council of the Dallas Arboretum‘s President Sara Jo Hardin, Suzanne Caruso and Linda Spina tiptoed their way to the entry, it was worth the wobbling arrival.
2023 Mad Hatter’s Tea Co-Chairs Anne Stodghill and Kristina Wrenn had arranged to have one-of-a-kind Tryst and Royal Extract candles created with Lady Primrose to celebrate the luncheon on Thursday, April 20, benefiting the Women’s Council.
As Anne explained, it was the ideal gift for patrons to purchase as a gift for Mother’s Day, birthdays or any special occasion. And the price was just right — $45 per wick.
