2022 Crystal Charity Ball Chair Susan Farris had a very special reason for the 2022 beneficiaries check presentation to take place at Arlington Hall on Tuesday, April 5. It was the spot where she had held a formal tea on Thursday, March 3, honoring the former CCB chairs and kicking off the organization’s 70th anniversary year. Now, after months of fundraising, she wanted to circle back to the setting where two crystal chandeliers hung that had originally been in the Baker Hotel for the first fundraiser in 1952.
When she pointed out the history behind the mammoth lights suspended overhead, all eyes looked upward.
Following a brief welcome by presenting sponsor Truist Senior VP Renda Mathews, the program got underway with the following eight beneficiaries receiving $7,180,555:
- The Agape Clinic – $550,000
- Baylor Oral Health Foundation – $1,602,596
- Behind Every Door – $692,244
- Educational First Steps – $500,000
- Family Compass – $899,665
- Hope Supply Co. – $770,028
- Southwestern Medical Foundation – $960,000
- United To Learn – $1,206,022
The beneficiaries also had memories of the past year. One recipient recalled how amazed they were when the final round of presentations took place the morning of Thursday, January 13, when Dallas had pretty much come to a standstill due to icy conditions. And yet, with hardly a person on the road, the committee members were at the Dallas Arts District Mansion to select the 2022 beneficiaries.
In addition to meeting the goal of $7,180,555 for the beneficiaries, Susan and her committee commemorated the anniversary year with an additional $2M for Children’s Health’s pediatric mental Health initiative, bringing the total to $9,180,555.
