Before announcing the theme for the 2023 Crystal Charity Ball tonight, CCB Chair Angie Kadesky, standing next to a tall, black-drop-cloth-covered canvas, welcomed guests promptly at 7:30 p.m. and encouraged the more than 160 who showed up to take in the fabulous collection of art that filled the fabulous home of hosts Betsy and Jim Sowell in Volk Estates.
Actually, Angie was also hinting at what the big news of the night would be for the “Theme Announcement Party” underwritten by Texas Capital Bank with bank executive Clint Bryant at her side.
First, though, she thanked the various vendors who team up each year to produce the legendary ball, like producer Tom Addis, The Garden Gate Flora Studio’s Junior Villanueva, Lambert’s Landscape’s Paul Fields, Curtis Moving and Storage’s Jamie Furrate, Lawson Event Rentals’ Cassie Lawson, orchestra leader Tim Ishii and Hilton Anatole’s Bruce Roy, Beverly Anderson and Roberta Robinson.
Angie told the crowd that, this year, she really wanted to stress CCB’s mission of giving Dallas County children hope for a healthier, more productive future. As the drop cloth literally fell to the floor, revealing an array of famous paintings featuring children, Angie explained that the 2023 theme will be “Masterpieces In The Making” — a double entendre where the classic artistic masterpieces will be the ball’s decorative motif, with “the real masterpieces in the making being the children we serve.”
She also emphasized that CCB “does not sell tickets to the ball. Rather, everyone who is invited to attend the ball receives an invitation as a token of gratitude for their generous support of our outstanding beneficiaries,” which this year include After-School All-Stars, Buckner Children and Family Services, Fair Park First, Family Gateway, Metrocare Services, Salvation Army of North Texas and YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas.
Leading up to the 2023 Crystal Charity Ball at the Hilton Anatole on Saturday, December 9, will be a number of underwriting events, including the Ten Best Dressed Fashion Show. Stay tuned for plans on the annual fashion presentation.
