On Tuesday, February 21, North Texas got a taste of the spring/summer days to come with thermometers hitting the 90s — the perfect occasion for the Turtle Creek Park Conservancy’s kicking off the 15th Annual Day At The Races.
Struggling through the drive-home traffic, ALG Collective on Dragon was well worth the effort for the nearly 100 guests to learn the plans for the annual Kentucky Derby watch party.
In addition to goodies and tequila-laced margaritas provided by Mesero and walls and displays showcasing artwork by Rachel Nash, Christi Meril and Melissa Ellis, Gallery owner/glass artist Anna Curnes had provided that any purchases of the night would benefit TCPC.
In brief remarks, TCPC President/CEO Tiffany Divis explained that DATR Co-Chair Austin Wyker was absent due to babysitting baby Jackson Wyker, while his better half and Co-Chair Katherine Wyker was on hand along with board member and Board Chair Bob Kriscunas and Board Vice-Chair Peter Dauterman and his wife Lynn Dauterman.
On hand for the evening was Truist Senior VP Renda Mathews representing DATR presenting sponsor Truist.
Making rounds checking out the walls of art were John Clutts with Dr. Sami Aslanlar, who will be hitting 50 in the days ahead; Greg Hext representing wife/DATR Advisory Chair Kim Hext, who was in Oklahoma following her father’s death the previous Saturday; Paul Divis, Tammy Duclow, Ann Dyer, Di Johnston and Judith Lifson.
Tiffany reported that the DATR would take place on Saturday, May 6, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. with Olivia and Charles Hasty serving as honorary co-chairs and Gail Corder Fischer heading up the underwriting. She added that social influencers Tanya Foster and Alicia Wood were curating raffles items and that there would be plenty of A/C in the VIP tent if temperatures flirted with the upper end of the thermometer.
In finishing up, she said that tickets and sponsorships were available online.
