When Community Partners of Dallas CEO/President Paige McDaniel announced her plans to retire on Wednesday, May 31, the question was, who could replace the person who had spearheaded the non-profit that provides resources to Dallas’ abused and neglected children for nearly 20 years?
That question was answered today by the CPD board of director’s issuing the announcement that longtime CPD VP of Development Joanna Clarke will seamlessly move into Paige’s office on Thursday, June 1.

According to Board Chair Travis Dent, “Throughout her tenure at CPD, [Joanna] has proven to be a strong leader, an innovative fundraiser, a community builder and most importantly, shown a sincere dedication to the abused and neglected children we serve. Joanna has worked closely alongside current president and CEO Paige McDaniel, who recently announced her upcoming retirement, as well as with the CPD board of directors for more than 16 years. The Search Committee was unanimous in its selection of Joanna; we are excited about the continuity she brings for our donors, volunteers and caseworkers, but also about her vision for the agency’s future. If you have ever worked with Joanna, you know she brings commitment, energy and passion to all she does.”

Since joining CPD in 2006 as vice president of development, she has been instrumental in “the successful launch of two signature fundraisers — Chick Lit Luncheon and Change is Good — that have collectively raised more than $8.5 million,” as well as “playing a critical role in raising $10.5 million for the capital campaign to purchase CPD’s current headquarters; securing funding from Crystal Charity Ball three times; helping to increase the organization’s budget over 300 percent; and creating and setting standards for the CPD brand.”
In response to her new role, Joanna said, “For many years CPD has been my home away from home, and I’m honored to lead our spectacular team and continue our important work. Between our caseworkers, donors, volunteers and staff we work with the best of the best, passionate people committed to fully equipping our kiddos to prevail over abuse. Because of them we are empowered to start thousands of children on the path to their safe new futures—there’s nothing else I’d rather do.”
Before joining CPD 16 years ago, Joanna had served as VP of development for Wednesday’s Child Benefit Corporation, as well as holding marketing and fundraising positions for Highland Park Presbyterian Church, Texas Stampede and The Science Place.
In her spare time, the Trinity University graduate was a member of Leadership Dallas’ Class of 2011 and has held a variety of leadership positions in the Junior League of Dallas and Cattle Baron’s Ball.
Regarding succeeding Paige, Joanna said, “Paige has been a mentor, a friend and like my family at the office (and outside!) for nearly two decades. While no one will ever replace her at CPD, I look forward to carrying forth her commitment to excellence in providing what the abused and neglected children in our community need today to thrive tomorrow. I’m so grateful to have learned from the best.”
Congratulations to Joanna on her new position and to the caseworkers and children of Dallas.
