North Texas non-profits are never boring during the first part of year when it comes to the “board” leadership transitioning. Adding to the list of the area’s news-making charity boards is Cancer Support Community North Texas.
After serving 16 years on the board of directors, David Ashworth is “returning” to the chair role and Melissa Threlkeld, who has been on the board for five years, is taking over the role of vice-chair.
According to Cancer Support Community CEO Mirchelle Louis, “We’re seeing a heightened awareness of the need for cancer support and a greater commitment to whole-person cancer care than ever before. Having Dave and Melissa at the helm as we navigate the next few years and work to align with businesses, healthcare systems and strategic partners, both in Dallas and as we continue to expand access to our programs and services in Ft. Worth, is incredible. We’re grateful for their leadership and that of the entire Board.”
Rounding out the board leadership team are Sundee Styles as secretary and Kathy Magee as treasurer.
In addition to the leadership changes are new board members Chris Bond and Anthony Moeller.
Cancer Support Community North Texas provides “clubhouses” to help ensure no one faces cancer alone. Completely free of charge, CSCNT is a place where people with cancer as well as their families and friends are learning to live with cancer and thrive beyond it through education, psychological support, networking, children’s programs, workshops and other cancer-centered resources.
