According to Wilkinson Center Special Events Manager Andrea Jones,
“Christmas is such a magical time and is best experienced through the eyes of our children and grandchildren. However, many families cannot experience that joy because of the stress and strain that the holidays can bring as many moms and dads are simply just working to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. No parent should have to spend sleepless nights wondering how they will provide gifts for their children on Christmas day or have to choose between Christmas gifts and other important financial obligations.
“As a mother of three and grandmother of four, I can only imagine the hurt and concern that parents may feel when they are unable to give the extras to their children for Christmas. For me, this is unacceptable and curable. I appeal to you to Give! Donate! Create an experience that will be remembered for a lifetime.
“Wilkinson Center has been hosting and distributing toys to our communities for 25 years. Our goal is to collect 2,000 unwrapped toys and gift cards of $25 each to distribute to 450 children, ages 0 to 17 years old, at our Holidays at Wilkinson Center event. Upon meeting our goal of distributing toys to 450 children, all additional funds will roll into the Family Emergency Fund to address critical needs that arise in the lives of our families throughout the rest of the year.
“We encourage the community to join us by purchasing items from our Amazon wish list, by Friday, December 9, or by making a donation to our Family Emergency Fund.
“For information on collecting and donating toys in person, please email Laura Ingrim or call 972.284.0305, or visit the Wilkinson Center website.
“Thank you in advance for your kindness in helping to make the holidays special for our families!”
