According to Texas Best Choices  Animal Rescue (TBC Animal Rescue) Co-Founder Karen Cadis,

“North Texas Giving Day is Texas Best Choices Animal Rescue’s largest fundraiser of the year and the most successful! We have participated for seven years and each year our donations have increased. Last year we raised a record $23,122.89 lifesaving dollars including $5,000 in matching funds from a dear donor in our area to support the over 100 dogs and pups we care for every day.

“We are located in a low-income, rural area just east of Dallas where there is no shortage of strays, unwanted litters and abandoned animals. We have been saving animals since 2003 as a No Kill outdoor rescue on 22 acres and we strive to create an environment where the pups can thrive while they wait for their forever homes. Our mission is to prevent any animal from going to the high kill shelter in our area. We rely on the generosity of kind-hearted souls to help us provide shelter, medical attention, food and love to so many neglected and unwanted dogs.

“We all remember SNOVID 2021 which brought us to our knees as we battled the cold temperatures and frozen water tubs for 100+ animals. The animals were amazing and resilient, and we were all thankful for their fur coats! Last year, thanks to North Texas Giving Day, we completed a big portion of a capital campaign to upgrade our kennels by adding electricity providing more comfort for our animals. Reaching this goal allowed us to run heat lamps and water tub heaters, construction upgrades for north wind blocks and lots of straw for their houses under the carport covers in their large play yards.

“This summer the campaign continued to provide cooling comfort with additional shade tarps, swimming pools and fans. Our efforts were a major success much in part to the generosity of faithful North Texas Giving donors. This year our goal is to meet or beat our fundraising total from last year.  North Texas Giving Day provides much needed funds to be able to save more lives and provide for their many needs.

“Saving one dog will not change the world but surely for that one dog, the world is changed forever. We use this quote by an unknown author as a mantra to always strive to save one more dog. Last year we saved 275 animals that had little hope without us. Funds from North Texas Giving Day provide lifesaving hope to the 4-legged creatures in our area and beyond as we also pull animals from high kill shelters. This one day of giving allows TBC Animal Rescue to be there in their time of desperate need.  We are a happy place for animals and people making TBC Animal Rescue a place for our rescued dogs and pups to blossom under our tender loving care as we prepare them for a carefully matched forever home and family.
