Remember all that talk about a drought? Well, that talk is done with today’s deluge of dramatic rainfall. Overnight and into the morning it was if someone had taken a big old bucket of water and turned it upside down on North Texas for hours. It was so massive that one couldn’t see the raindrops… just the wall of water falling from above.
Area underpasses turned some cars into downed submarines, with passengers literally dog paddling to higher ground. Other cars on the verge of entering the newly created lakes were trapped, unable to budge due to the number of cars lined up behind them. Emergency vehicles were hindered from the trapped traffic situations. Some news videographers resorted to using drones to get footage for their reports.

According to weather wizard Steve McCauley, “Another unprecedented event took place when this all started in earnest yesterday evening: all three major radar sites in the DFW area went down. I don’t recall this ever happening before either.”
Needless to say, drowned cars will need to be replaced; plumbers are in overdrive helping overworked sump pumps pump back into action; and roofers are in high demand to find leaks caused by the torrents.
The good news is that North Texas’ drought has ended, and there’s a possibility there will be no more 100-degree temperatures likely to take place again in 2022.
