AWARE President Dr. Holly Hull Miori has her ducks in a row for the 2022-2023 year of raising funds to fight Alzheimer’s. She’s announced the officers for the year that include Immediate Past President Karisti Julia, First Vice-President Jack Broyles, Second Vice-President Bob Walker, Treasurer Emily Collins, Recording Secretary Carol Stabler, Membership Chair Mari Epperson, Grant Review Chair Jolie Humphrey, Finance Chair Stacey Angel, Corresponding Secretary Catherine Dickson Weber, Communications/ Website Chair Veronica Shanklin, Directory/Yearbook Chair Barbara Mathes, Programs-Logistic Co-Chairs Margo Crofford and Karen Koop, Grant Review-Elect Gail Plummer, Program Chair Dr. Kamilia Smith, Inspirational Chair Rev. Nicole Bates, Webinar Chair Dr. Cindy Marshall and Volunteer Coordinator Erin Dougherty.
Thanks to the AWARE fundraising efforts, grants are “awarded to organizations that provide outstanding services to Alzheimer’s patients and their caregivers, and to those research institutions that are at the forefront of medical research in the treatment, prevention and cure of Alzheimer’s disease.”
The grant recipients for 2022-2023 include the following: Baylor Scott and White Dallas Foundation, Bishop Arts Theatre Center, C.C. Young, Center for BrainHealth, Christian Care Communities and Services, Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, For Love and Art, Foundation for the Callier Center, Jewish Family Service, Juliette Fowler Communities, NorthPark Presbyterian Church, Plano Symphony Orchestra, Songs and Smiles, Stomping Ground Theater and Training Center, Texas Winds Musical Outreach, The Senior Source, UT Southwestern Medical Center, Wilshire Baptist Church and Myrna D. Schlegel AWARE Scholarship fund.
