Thanks to the lack of power and freezing temperatures, many communities, private residences and buildings like the newly renovated Hall of State at Fair Park, the Dallas Country Club, The Family Place‘s emergency shelter and Camden Victory Park have sustained damage due to broken water lines and compromised sprinkler systems.

Check out the video of the broken sprinkler system that turned a garage into a car wash. According to the owners, this “1 1/2 inch culprit caused all the damage.”
It seems nothing has been spared. Even main roads are falling victim to underground water mains busting like the one reported this morning at the intersection of Inwood and Northwest Highway.
The most in-demand folks today are plumbers, water utility crews and insurance claims adjusters.
While the prayer for better temperatures is valid, remember that water damage may be in the future. Lengthy waiting lists are already being created for plumbers. Drip faucets, hunt up your cut-off valve and leave under-sink cabinets open to warmth. If you’re still in a deep freeze, wrap those pipes with towels, sweaters, etc.
